“The Quest” follows a group of D&D-loving tweens as they transform into their alter egos, seek adventure, and beat the D20 odds. Originally written for the stage, the mimes of BKBX have performed various episodes of “The Quest” since 2013 in New York and on tour nationally. Now, in collaboration with filmmaker Michael Litwak, the story makes its leap from stage to screen, keeping all the (silent) bells and (mimed) whistles intact, plus some brand new twists and turns for our beloved protagonists. Much like BKBX’s modernized version of mime itself, role-playing adventure games activate our imaginations through immersive worlds: we play out our wildest dreams, battle our darkest nightmares, and explore what is under the surface through collaborative play. The story of “The Quest” is about how our fantasy lives influence our real ones. And, if we’re lucky, they become one and the same. (Or at least until Mom honks that she’s outside.)
